Sports!

The last week has been a fantastic one. Not surprising considering football season is now underway and, until the past 3 days, the Rangers were in a pennant/wild card race. Ah well. At least the Rangers kept us entertained until the Cowboys took the field.

Anyhoo, we have been enjoying the Fall sports bonanza. This past weekend, for example, we had Karen's family over for lunch because it was Norah's Granddaddy's birthday, and we were able to sandwich some U.S. Open watching around lunch and the kids' playtime. Then during Norah's (3.5 hour!) naptime, we got to watch Tiger fire a 62 in Chicago. Nice!

On Sunday, we got together with some SMU friends for the Cowboys game. While the guys had grand designs of golfing in the morning, the unlikely torrential rains prevented that from happening. Thanks goodness for Top Golf, which saved the morning for us. After the game, the ladies headed to the W spa for some Sunday afternoon pampering while the men took care of the little ones and watched the afternoon games. We finished off our Sunday extravaganza with dinner at Taco Diner, where Norah got some more quality time with her friends Charlie and Jack. While Norah was a bit stingy with her queso, a good time was had by all.

We finished off our sporting extravaganza with a monumental event last night: Norah's first Rangers game! When we bought the tickets 10 days ago, the Rangers were in the heat of a playoff race. Unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. Nevertheless, Norah had a great time, as was evidenced by her hopping (not walking, but emphatically hopping) from the parking lot to the stadium, clapping and screaming "yay!" whenever anyone else in the stadium cheered, eating her first cotton candy (which elicited a very satisfied laugh/growl from Norah), and screaming "yay Texas Rangers!" upon request. She did much better than the Rangers did, lasting until the 7th inning. The only problem occured when she cheered as Oakland scored their 4th and 5th runs, but considering she was waiting in vain for Texas to score, I can let that pass.

Meanwhile...

  • Not surprisingly, Norah is enjoying Mother's Day Out, and because she only sleeps for 45 minutes or so at MDO, I am enjoying the fact that she sleeps for 3-3.5 hours on the days she is at home.
  • In addition to making animal noises when we ask her what sound a particular animal makes, Norah now enjoys hearing us make the animal sounds and telling us the animal we are imitating. She is quite good at this game.
  • Norah enjoys reading to others as much as being read to, and she is demonstrating that she has a very good memory, memorizing the favorite parts of her favorite books and repeating them on demand several times throughout the day.
  • Norah's hair is long! And getting longer.
  • It is hard to believe Norah will be TWO in just four short weeks. TWO?!?!
