Denney Girl Facebook Posts...

As I haven't posted anything on this blog in over 7 months, I figured a way to start again was to include many of the facebook posts about the girls over the past several months, since not everyone checks facebook regularly.  Does it give an overview of what exactly has been going on in our lives lately?  Not on a macro level, to be sure, but cuteness is certainly displayed on a micro level this way.  So, enjoy!

Norah just called the Abominable Snowman in Rudolph something that sounded like "The Obama Snow Monster." You aren't far off, kid.




And that does it for now!  Maybe in the next few weeks I'll get around to posting about Norah's zoo camp(s)/ballet camp/museum school summer adventures, Lila's continuing development (which is beautiful, amusing, fast, scary, and everything in between), and our vacation to Costa Rica -- in one week!

(fyi, they are singing "Hello Mrs. Pilgrim" to the tune of "If You're Happy and You Know It."  The verses are  "Hello Mrs. Pilgrim," "Hello Mr. Native," and "Hello Mr. Turkey."  Enjoy!)

Cruising, Drooling, and Trick or Treating

October has been quite a busy month for both girls...but especially Lila.  She has gone from cautiously crawling around our apartment to sprint-crawling and cruising everywhere.  Thank goodness we don't have stairs (though that will change in a few months), because I'd be chasing her up and down them most of the time. 

But first thing's first -- Halloween pictures!  We went trick our treating next to our soon-to-be-house, and later met up with David, Tracey and Kaelyn just down the street, as they made the trip to Fort Worth for trick or treating and a Halloween party at a friend's house.

Norah as Buddy the T-Rex (from PBS's Dinosaur Train: http://pbskids.org/dinosaurtrain/), and Lila the Giraffe in front of the house, which now has a roof and windows. Incidentally, Norah got along great with a 5 year old girl (and her 18 month old sister ) two houses down.  Exciting!  Also exciting?  The fact that Karen put Lila's Giraffe costume on correctly.  Unfortunately, I wasn't so skillful when I dressed Lila on Friday night for our church Fall Fest.  Seems I put the costume on backward, which resulted in a giraffe tail appearing on the front of Lila's costume, instead of the back.  Awkward.

Kaelyn and Norah held hands up and down the entire block, which was pretty adorable.  They were both in great moods given the atmosphere.  Uncle David carried the Giraffe for awhile, and the Giraffe was grateful.

Lila has turned into a complete ham in front of the camera.  She flashes her beautiful smile pretty much all the time now. 

Even though Norah'a birthday had passed by the time this picture was taken, I couldn't pass up this precious photo of her enjoying left-over cake. 


A wonderful example of what I have termed the reverse-mullet.  Long in the middle, short on the sides.  Hair clips are now mandatory.

Silly, silly girl.

She makes this trip between couch and coffee table about 150 times per day. 

And she's still got teeth coming in.  Lots of teeth, if you judge by the drool.

Happy Birthday to Norah!

Unbelievably, our little monkey girl turned three today (although, if you call her "little," she will quickly correct you)!  It is hard to believe that three years have passed since God blessed us with Norah.  It is amazing how she has developed into such a beautiful, outgoing, helpful, independent, funny, athletic, and altogether wonderful person.  Sure, she'll throw a tantrum or two, but today isn't the day to focus on those. 

Here are a couple of nice pictures of our three-year-old princess at the park today, and at lunch with Mama. 

We had a great party this weekend at Pump It Up, where both kids and adults bounced and slid for 60 fun-filled minutes. 

Pizza and cake followed with much fanfare. 

And though she didn't wish to wear her crown and scepter at her party, she was happy to do so at home. 

Following the party, Cousin Kaelyn, Aunt Tracey and Uncle David joined us on the Forest Park Miniature Railroad (http://www.fpmt.us/).  Norah has become quite the fan of this 45-minute train ride, and Lila doesn't quite mind it, either. 

While we haven't taken a ton of pictures over the past few months, there have been a few.  For example...

At the Circus in August, with Lila somehow sleeping through complete chaos. 

Lila loving her exersaucer, where she can be safely confined and entertained when I can't keep up with two kids.  This is a much bigger problem now than it was a month ago, as Lila is a fast crawler.  And, being so tiny, she can get into many things she shouldn't get into. 

One positive about living at our apartment is the vast green space behind our building.  We have taken advantage of this by having soccer/baseball lessons once a week or so.  Simply put, Norah is good.  On the baseball side of things, she is hitting balls pitched from 20 feet away (even if she does close her eyes when she swings), and when we turn to soccer, she is already an adept dribbler of the ball if open space.

Lila and Norah on their first day of Mother's Day Out.  Norah is loving her class.  Lila started out a bit fussy, but has since started enjoying herself for most of the 4+ hours she is there. 

As I mentioned earlier, Lila loves crawling into small spaces.

A couple of weeks ago, we joined Aunt Tracey and Cousin Kaelyn at the Dallas Arboretum Pumpkin Patch.  Always a great time!

The girls got their face painted.  Norah was a pirate -- with purple lipstick, for some reason.

Anyhoo, things have been busy around here.  We are anxiously awaiting our house.  Though it was slow going in the beginning, they poured our foundation and got it framed in the span of 8 days, so it is getting a little better.  For now, here's what we have to look at:
